Welcome to 2^nd grade at West Lake Elementary School! We are looking forward to a fun, exciting and productive year. Second Grade will offer your child an opportunity to learn and explore new things in all content areas.

Below you will find information that will help get us started this year. Please read the information carefully and if you have any questions please feel free to send an email to csales@wcpss.net.

~ Each week a newsletter will be sent home in the white folders that will explain the units of study and any other important information including our specials schedule, lunch schedule, etc.

~ If anyone is interested in volunteering in our classroom please make sure that you are registered with Wake County. Once you have been cleared please let us know when you may be available.

~ Yellow Folders will be sent home every day with your child. In this folder you will find a homework log, a reading log and any other important daily information.

~ We are hoping to purchase Scholastic News for our class this year. It will serve as a supplement to all of our curriculum areas and we will use them as they become appropriate in our curriculum. Once I determine the cost of the subscription, I will forward the cost to you.

~ Please make sure that if your child’s means of transportation changes that you provide a written note giving permission. Thank you.

Supply List

Track 4 Starter Supply List

1 box of 16 crayons and colored pencils (no markers or pens of any kind)

2 spiral notebooks – wide-ruled

4 pocket folders – red, blue, and 2 yellow (must be these colors)

#2 pencils with erasers

1 small pencil box or pencil bag

1 large box of Kleenex

1 hi-liter (pink, yellow, or blue)

HEALTHY SNACK AND DRINK EVERY DAY! (No sodas, no candy, and no chocolate)

1 composition book

1 box/container of antibacterial wipes

Note: Please do not bring any Trapper Keepers.
