Dear Parents,

 

Some important information for the 2008-2009 school year:

 

  • We will have an Open House for parents new to West Lake on Thursday, May 1st at 6:00. We encourage you NOT to bring your children to this meeting. There will be a lot of information presented, and children have a difficult time sitting through this.

 

  • “Meet the Teacher” dates have also been scheduled.

 

 Track 1 – Thursday, May 29th, from 5:00-6:30 Tracks 2, 3, and 4 – Thursday, June 19th, from 5:00-6:30

 

During this time you can pre-pay lunches, get carpool numbers and bus information, meet the YMCA, and join PTA. Please plan to bring your children for this.

 

  • For grades 1-5 class lists will be posted on the classroom doors. Parents and students should go to the grade level hallways. Teacher names, track colors and grade levels will be posted outside the classrooms. You will need to look on the lists that correspond to the track and grade level to determine next year’s teacher.

 

·         Parents who want to volunteer in the classroom must go through an online registration process that the county requires. Registration for this program for the upcoming school year will not be available until July.

 

  • School hours are 8:20am-2:50pm.  Students may not arrive on campus before 7:50 unless they are enrolled in the YMCA Before-School program.

 

  • Bus routes should be available in late May or June. Check for your stop carefully. There will be some changes from last year and you should pay close attention to the routes. You will need to estimate the time the bus should be at your stop.  Arrive early until routes settle down.  If you are going to ride the bus, the sooner you start riding, the sooner routes and times can be firmed up. 

 

  • If you are going to be arriving or leaving in a private vehicle, please remember that you must use the carpool system that operates in the parking lot and loads and unloads in front of the cafeteria.  If you will be leaving school in a private automobile, you will need a carpool number.

 

SPECIAL NOTICE TO RISING KINDERGARTEN PARENTS AND STUDENTS:

Kindergarten parents and students should plan to come to the “Meet the Teacher” dates above. You will have an opportunity to pre-pay lunches, get carpool numbers and bus information, meet the YMCA, and join PTA. However, you will not actually meet your teacher until July. For tracks1, 2, and 3, “Meet the Teacher” will be Friday, July 11th, from 9:00-10:00. “Meet the Teacher” for track 4 will be Friday, August 1st, from 9:00-10:00. Kindergarten classes are created after the staggered dates. Staggered entry dates for tracks 1, 2, and 3 are July 7th-July 10th. Staggered entry dates for track 4 are July 28th-July 31st. More information will come home about this in the spring.
