Track One Third Grade
2008-2009
Mrs. Strother’s Class
Welcome to third grade!
I am looking forward to
meeting you and your children. This year
we will have many new experiences and adventures. We will explore the moon and discover the
inner workings of a plant. We will
become “Pioneer children” for a day and learn how people lived long ago. At the end of the year we will celebrate Charlotte’s
Web with our own County Fair.
Discipline Policy
As a
class, we will decide on what rules we will obey as a class and these will be
posted for us all. This contract ensures
that we all want the same behaviors for each other. We use a ‘bean economy” in our room. This is our form of classroom money. They students will earn money for positive behaviors
and lose money for misbehaviors. Then
the students will be allowed to shop in our class store.
Homework
You child
will be expected to write their homework down for the week each Monday. Homework is generally due on Friday morning
unless otherwise stated. Homework
assignments will be written in the newsletter that will be sent home twice a
month.
Snacks/Lunch
Our lunch
will be after 12:00 this year; therefore we will have a midmorning snack each
day. These snacks are to be brought from
home. I do not keep snacks in the
room. I request that you send in snacks
that are healthy and not loaded with sugar.
We try to avoid the “sugar crash”.
We have a working snack, so finger foods work best and make less of a
mess. Birthday treats are welcomed and
will be enjoyed at lunch as dessert.
Please remember that
Lunch
Bunch
The
students love lunch bunch, so once you have received your volunteer badge, I
encourage you to come as often as you’d like.
Lunch bunch is limited to 4 children.
This includes any younger siblings you bring with you.
Conferences
We will
have at least 2 conferences during the year; however, you may request
additional conferences anytime you have a concern.
Field
Trips
We will
have 2 field trips this year. These will
be announced as the year progresses.
Contact Me
I LOVE
email! I check it several times a day
including at night. This is the most
efficient way to get in touch with me.
My email address is astrother@wcpss.net. You may also send in notes in your child’s
agenda and I will respond as quickly as possible.
I hope
this gives you a glimpse into third grade.
We will go into much more detail at Open House.
Thank
you for your support. I am looking
forward to an exciting year with your children.
