From the Desk of Track One, Third Grade Teachers

 Dear Parents and students,

Welcome to a new and exciting year at West Lake Elementary. The third grade curriculum is full of educational activities that will prove to be challenging and fun. There is no doubt; we will be busy this year!

This is a crucial year for third graders because they will experience more activities at an intermediate level, rather than a primary level. They will read texts with content area material, learn how to write upper and lower cursive letters, master multiplication, complete and present research projects and much more! Third grade is also the year they learn basic organizational skills. The following list of supplies will be most helpful keeping your child organized for a successful year.  If you are unable to obtain any of these supplies, please let me know.

Supply List

ü      3 plastic folders with brads for holding loose-leaf paper and pockets (It is important to have the following colors: 1 red, 1 green and 1 blue)

ü      loose leaf paper

ü      One notebook (for spelling homework)

ü      Pencil pouch or box

ü      Highlighter

ü      Colored pencils and No. 2 pencils

ü      Glue sticks

ü           Erasers

ü           Plastic container with a lid

ü      Box of tissue

I would like to thank you in advance for accumulating all the supplies needed. As the year progresses, you will see a more organized student in your child. You may want to buy extra while they are on sale in August so that you can replace any supplies as they are used up as the year progresses.

Thanks again in advance for all your support,

            Mrs. Strother
