Statement of Values:

We Believe ...............in the total involvement of our staff, students, parents, and community in a nurturing and safe environment. Within this partnership, grounded in integrity and respect, students will achieve beyond our highest expectations.

Vision Statement:

Immediately upon entering West Lake Year-Round Elementary School, you are greeted by enthusiastic children and accessible, nurturing adults. As you walk down the hallways, you see walls splashed with displays of children’s artwork and class projects. You hear soft laughter mingled with quiet giggles and excited voices floating from busy classrooms. It becomes clear that students, parents, and staff are pleased with their decision to be in this safe environment where learning is emphasized.

Notice as you enter the classroom that children at all educational levels are actively involved in authentic learning and assessment. Children willingly take risks and eagerly desire to help one another. You see children readily sharing examples of their work and discussing the progress being made.

Special Area teachers as well as classroom teachers model a cooperative spirit. They willingly take risks in order for their students to succeed. The variety of instructional methods and materials utilized illustrates the collaborative efforts of all groups.

Parents and other volunteers eagerly assist with classroom activities that encourage successful learning for all. Each member of the school community is cognizant of the importance of teamwork, which is essential for continual growth and in making a difference in the lives of our students.

Ideas being shared and activities being planned for school and community can be observed, As activities are developed, student, parents, and school staff, and other members of the community conscientiously use the school’s goals and beliefs as their guidelines for implementing and assessing the various activities.

Resources secured from a well-organized media center and technology laboratory aid the staff in developing a curriculum that integrates all disciplines and meets the needs of a diverse population. The staff continues to participate in staff development, integrate technology, and assess the instructional program. Children participate in school and community-based programs for remediation and enrichment in order to meet federal. State, and county school goals.

Expectations soar when positive feedback, cooperation, and a sense of humor foster an attitude of respect and appreciation among the West Lake Elementary School community. Reflecting on your visit, you leave with a feeling that you have shared a moment in time with people who value life-long learning and who are committed to inspiring each student to greater heights.

Mission Statement:
