Welcome to Third Grade!

Homework

Students will do homework on Monday thru Thursday evenings. This will be turned in for a homework grade every Friday. I do not give homework to children who are absent. You already know what is expected each night and can turn it in when you return. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis. I will not prepare a homework package for you to take on an unexcused vacation.

Spelling homework

Spelling homework is based on the list for the week that will correspond with there reading lesson. The students will be given a chance to copy the list on Mondays when they take their pretest. It should be in their agenda and I will print it in their newsletter each week. There will be a sheet for students to keep at home, to help them choose the spelling assignment for the night. They must do a different assignment each night. Friday is their spelling test.

Math Homework

Math homework will be assigned for each quarter. For instance the students may work on math facts for addition and subtraction. Later they will work on multiplication and division. Finally they will practice Gallon Man for the unit on measurement. I will send instructions on how and what to do at a later time.

Reading Homework

Reading homework will be to read for 20 min. each night and have a parent sign their reading log. This will be checked on Friday along with their homework.

This is the homework routine in a nutshell! Please do not feel stressed if your family has a busy schedule or an emergency. Just make it up and I will accept it late. Do not skip it!

Snacks

Students have a snack time each morning along with a bathroom break. Please remember to send a healthy snack that requires no preparation. Water bottles too please!
