Dear Future 4th
graders and Parents,
We would like to take this time to
introduce ourselves, your future teachers.
We look forward to meeting with you at Open House, but wanted to go
ahead and give you a little information about the upcoming year. Along with the core subjects, Mrs. Brady
teaches social studies, and Mrs. Miller teaches science. Therefore, you will be getting to know both
of us in the upcoming year.
We
have attached a supply list so that you may purchase the items at your
convenience, but rest assured we do not expect you to have all of these items
on the first day of school. You may wait
until school starts to purchase these supplies if you wish.
Also,
many parents want to know what they can do over track out to prepare for the
fourth grade. For reading, the best
preparation is to read. You can read to
your child, with the child, or your child may read alone, but practice is the
key. In math the single most important
preparation is memorizing the basic
multiplication facts (times tables from 0-12). This makes all other mathematic operations
faster and easier to complete. By
knowing the multiplication tables, your child will have a much easier year. You can practice these by making or
purchasing flash cards, verbally calling out the facts, or by going to a math
web site such as www.321know.com .
We
hope you have a wonderful break and look forward to starting the new school
year with you!
Sincerely,
Jane
Miller and Lauren Brady
